Controversial media personality, Reno Omokri has advocates taking care of ones parents while they are still alive.
The former presidential aide said that parents should be honoured by providing them with better healthcare rather than spending extravagantly on funerals after they pass away, citing the example of the late king of Saudi Arabia’s simple burial despite his wealth.
In his words:
“Give your parents their flower now, while they have the power and tower over life, and before they go lower into the grave for their afterlife. This culture where we pull out all the stops to honour our parents in death is rubbishing Africa. Spend the money on the living.
“Not the dead. Contribute money for their healthcare, not their funeral. Give them a befitting life, and when they die, you can even wrap them in white linen and bury them the same day in a simple ceremony. That is how the late king of Saudi Arabia was booted. Even though he was a dollar billionaire.”
