The Katsina State Police have arrested 21-year-old Halilu Yusuf for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old boy.
Police spokesperson ASP Abubakar Aliyu shared the details during a briefing on Wednesday.
On August 17, based on credible intelligence, Yusuf was arrested in Gezawa, near Shinkafi village, for kidnapping the son of his mentor from Kofar-Sauri quarters. The suspect demanded a N2 million ransom from the boy’s father.
Yusuf initially kept the boy in his room before moving him to another location, unaware that police were tracking him.
The suspect made an anonymous call to inform the father of the kidnapping, prompting the police to act swiftly.
Led by the DPO GRA, Katsina, the police team successfully traced and arrested Yusuf, rescuing the boy unharmed.
During the investigation, Yusuf confessed to the crime. He will be charged to court once the investigation is complete.
