NDLEA Destroys 7 Hectares of Hemp Farms in Kogi, Arrests Three Suspects

The Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed seven hectares of hemp farms and arrested three suspects.

The operation took place in the Ikeja Forest and Maikeke Village in the Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area.

State NDLEA Commander Umar Yahuza announced on Wednesday in Lokoja that three hectares were discovered in Ikeja Forest, where three suspects were arrested.

The remaining four hectares were found in Maikeke Village, but the owner of that farm managed to escape.

The successful operation, conducted between August 9 and August 15, was part of the agency’s crackdown on illicit drugs in the Kogi East axis.

The breakthrough came after receiving intelligence reports from local residents.

Commander Yahuza stated that the NDLEA is actively pursuing the escaped suspect and is committed to eradicating drug trafficking and abuse in the state.

He urged the public to support the agency’s efforts in combating the consumption and distribution of illegal drugs, which are harming many young people in the community.
